Le Chateau de la Vallee offers superb self-catering chateau accommodation in Normandy. With its superb 30ft by 10ft heated swimming pool, it is idyllically set on the edge of the pretty village of Grandcourt, by wonderful rolling countryside not far from the beautiful Forest of Eu. The beach at Criel-sur-Mer is just a 15 minute scenic drive away and the cities of Dieppe and Abbeville are just half an hour away. Rent the East Wing which sleeps up to 10, the West Wing which also sleeps up to 10, or the Cottage which sleeps up to 6 - or all three! It's the perfect destination for a family summer holiday, a romantic winter retreat or as an idyllic base all year round for cycling, fishing, hiking, motocross, golfing, greenlaneing, quadbiking and other activity holidays. Many of our guests come in the winter months to pursue these leisure activities or just to relax, make the most of the open fires and to enjoy the natural beauty of the region which has so much to offer all year round. Accommodation The Chateau and its Cottage are fantastic properties which have been lovingly restored retaining a vast array of original features. Both properties are furnished in keeping with their rustic country chateau character and surroundings and provide those little luxuries that make a holiday here something quite special. The Chateau and its Cottage are set in their own private 5 acres of beautiful parkland traversed by a river. We particularly welcome families with children and have concentrated on making it a fantastic and safe place for everyone to have a wonderful holiday. The Chateau is divided into two halves which can be rented together or separately - the West Wing and the East Wing. The West Wing - sleeps up to 10 Ideal for a large family or two, and with its four bedrooms, four bathrooms, huge reception room with mezzanine gallery, kitchen and large dining room is also suitable for up to 10 people. The East Wing - sleeps up to 10. Has four generous bedrooms, four bathrooms, two reception rooms and a dining room, as well as a large kitchen/diner. Ideal for a large family or two. The Cottage - sleeps up to 6. Has 3 smaller bedrooms, a large lounge which opens onto a private patio area, kitchen/dining area and luxury bathroom and is ideal for a family with up to four children or up to 4 adults and 2 children. It is a wonderful country gem, perfect for a summer holiday, a base for a winter activity holiday, or as cosy retreat or romantic weekend hideaway during the sun or snow. The Cottage can be rented either separately from or in addition to the East and/or West Wing of the Chateau. All properties are very private with their own private outdoor terraces with outdoor dining tables and barbecues. They are designed to be enjoyed by three different groups of people but are also ideal to be rented together for larger groups. The superb 30ft x 10ft outdoor pool is open from early April until the end of October and is heated with a very effective heater during this time. A fence surrounds the pool ensuring the safety of younger children. There is a formal garden at the front of the property and a huge lawned area at the back which is fenced off where it meets the river so children can play safely in the garden. There are gates with coded padlocks to bridges over the river to a secret swing garden area, an orchard and our very own meditation island which is wonderful for relaxation sessions! There is also a large duck pond, home to 5 friendly ducks, as well as a large meadow with a 12th century church ruin on it to explore. The pasture is also home to our donkey Pepito (or Pete for short!), and two ponies, Clara and Clarissa, who love meeting our guests! The Chateau has been completely refurbished, retaining masses of original features with modern day luxuries. It is spacious, charming and atmospheric, without being too pretentious - the whole family can relax here! The Cottage has also been completely refurbished retaining its rustic charm. A holiday here can be spent busily pursuing all the activities on offer in the local area, or doing simply relaxing in the Chateau and its grounds. Each Wing of the Chateau has its own set of games, toys and books to keep the kids amused while the grown ups relax. There's even a video games console in each unit, complete with a selection of games to play. Maid service and bicycle hire can be arranged, subject to availability and extra charge. All units are equipped with satellite TV, including English channels, hi-fis, DVD players and a selection of DVDs as well as an i-pod docking station - so bring your ipod and plug it into hear your own music! We have wireless internet available in the Chateau and Cottage guests who bring their laptops are welcome to intercept the signal in the garden as it unfortunately doesn't reach the Cottage.
