If you are looking for a great “Up North” Michigan vacation rental home / cabin that is rustic yet contemporary, secluded yet accessible, with awesome views right in the middle of nature, then you have found it in this beautiful, custom-built log home.
River Woods Lodge is an amazing log home nestled on 20 wooded acres, with its own ORV/Snowmobile trails and 8 blinds for deer and small game hunting (in season). It is located in central mid-Michigan on the banks of the Tittabawassee River. But, you don't have to be a hunter or outdoors man to enjoy this wonderful vacation rental.
While rustic on the exterior, the 4,000 square foot, two level interior (with additional loft bedroom) has all of the comforts of home. It is beautifully decorated in a log cabin / lodge style and has many contemporary amenities, such as large screen TV’s with DVD, DVR & VCR players, Internet, 3 fireplaces, cathedral and log beam ceilings and large bathrooms.
The central Great Room has plenty of large windows facing the river, with views of the property, and large pond. It has a wood-burning, natural stone fireplace (logs provided), 48 inch 3D TV and DVD player, surround sound stereo, plenty of comfortable seating and a sleeper sofa.
The large open-area Kitchen/Bar/Dining Room has lots of modern conveniences including 3 ovens, a magnificent log bar with log stools for 7, a dining table with seating for 12, and a gas fireplace with natural stone chimney.
The lower level walk-out has a large, open area family room with wet-bar , large flat screen TV, ample seating, corncob/cardboard burning fireplace (corncobs supplied), and French doors leading to the exterior and Artesian Spring.
Walk out onto the wrap-around deck, from one of the many French doors, and enjoy all the beauty that “Pure Michigan” has to offer. Sit and relax in the custom-built Adirondack chairs and enjoy the wonderful views surrounding you. Listen to the soothing sounds of nature from the chirping birds, the running river and the gurgling Artesian Spring. Be on the look-out for all types of wild life.
Need more relaxation? Drop a fishing pole into the river, swim, or launch a floating tube, kayak, or canoe, and spend the day meandering down the river. At the end of the day, gather around the outdoor fire pit, on rough-hewn benches, with some wine or S’mores, and listen to the totally different night sounds of the woods. Or, you may want to spend the evening with a good book, or play board games or cards around one of the 3 fireplaces.
Looking for something with a little more activity? There is a horseshoe pit and a basketball net on site. The kids can play in the tree fort and swing set, which is right outside the front door.
If Fall or Winter are your preferred seasons…watch as the view changes again, when the leaves start to change their color, or the trees are covered with snow.
Go Hunting, Hiking, Off-Roading, Snowmobiling, Cross Country Skiing, or Ice Skating on the pond in Winter.
If hunting is your sport, there are 8 hunting blinds located on the property. Additionally, there are 120 acres of Gladwin State Forest land only ¼ mile down the road. A large kennel is available for hunting dogs. There is a long driveway which will accommodate trailers.
The property is located on the narrow area of the Tittabawassee River which winds thru Gladwin county - not the very wide area near Secord Dam.In front of the dock the river is between 1.5 to 2.5 feet deep. You can place lawn chairs in the water and be able to sit above the water level. This area is great for small kids and wading.
Fishing:
The river does have deep spots where the fish hang out. These spots are 6 feet deep or so.
Canoeing/Kayaking:
The river moves at about 3-5 mph (this will depend upon the section of river you are in). You can raft/tube/kayak or canoe down the river. It will take about 2 hours to go the 3 miles (approx.) to the bridge at Sugar River Road where you can be picked up.
If the amenities on the property are not enough to satisfy you, there is an abundance of attractions in areas surrounding Gladwin (for more information, click on the Area Information & Attractions tab at the top of the page).
If you are looking for a place to “get away from it all” but want “all the comforts of home”… look no further. Just send us an email, or give us a call, and we will be happy to reserve this wonderful log home for your next vacation
